About the road
The bike course of the triathlon world championship in Kona runs from Kailua-Kona up the Queen Kaahumanu Highway, across the black lava fields to Kawaihae, then climbs to the turnaround in Hawi and comes back the same way. This road is that out-and-back, from the pier at Kailua to Hawi and back to the pier.
The race also starts with a short loop through town, which isn't included here. The course can change from year to year, so check the race's own page if you are training for a particular edition.
Also known as Queen K, Queen Kaahumanu Highway, Kona bike course, Hawi turnaround.
How to ride it on your trainer
- Open longvoie in Chrome or Edge on a laptop or desktop. It is free: an email and a code to sign in, no password, no card.
- Connect your trainer: any smart trainer that speaks FTMS (Wahoo, Tacx, Elite…), or a power meter, and a heart-rate strap if you have one. No trainer yet? Ride on the keys.
- Pick Kona. longvoie sets your trainer's resistance as the road climbs and eases it as it falls, and you ride it in 3D, on the real street.
- Stop whenever you like. Your next ride starts from the metre you stopped at.
